Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of this website. Browsing its pages, reading its material, or using a search feature means that you accept all terms stated below. If you disagree with any condition, stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, Iowa, or federal government agency. The site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant evaluation, or any other activity regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to help readers locate criminal-record resources for Floyd County and Iowa. It is neither a private investigation business nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independently operated private reference site, not a government office. It does not keep official records, submit documents on a visitor's behalf, retrieve government files, or perform an official background check.

The information identifies offices and systems that maintain Floyd County criminal records, including the sheriff, Iowa courts, the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. It may also connect visitors with outside tools useful for research. Access to public agency material remains governed by laws such as the Iowa Open Records Law, Iowa Code chapter 22, and criminal-history dissemination rules in Iowa Code chapter 692.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use the site in violation of any local, Iowa, or federal law
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information obtained here
  • Use site content for decisions about housing, credit, insurance, or employment
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Send bots, scraping programs, or other automated tools through the pages
  • Disrupt performance or interfere with another person's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this site or a linked tool to threaten, intimidate, stalk, harass, or discriminate against anyone. Such conduct may also violate the law. This restriction is especially important for the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Iowa Code chapter 692A governs registry information and its use, and unlawful conduct against a registrant can result in criminal penalties. Registry information supports public safety awareness. It is not a basis for vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, background checks, or any other consumer report. Its advertising partners likewise do not offer tools designed to screen applicants, evaluate rental applications, set insurance rates, or measure creditworthiness. You agree that information from this site or any linked tool will not be used to:

  • Make an employment or termination decision
  • Evaluate a prospective renter or housing applicant
  • Set an insurance premium or assess creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

When a regulated purpose requires a background check, use an FCRA-compliant screening provider or the proper official process through the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Investigation.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It may describe how criminal records work in Floyd County, but it cannot determine how an Iowa charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement rule applies to an individual matter. Consult a lawyer licensed in Iowa for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are offered "as is." No promise or warranty is made that:

  • Information will always be current, complete, or accurate
  • Partner search results will be complete or correct
  • Pages will be free from defects, errors, or security weaknesses
  • The website will operate continuously or without interruption

Criminal records can change as charges are filed or dismissed and records are restricted or expunged. Updates may not appear at once, and omissions can occur. Nothing published here is an official statement from the Floyd County Sheriff, an Iowa court, DCI, or any other government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to a sheriff's website, Iowa court portal, state agency, legal-aid organization, or outside search service. Following a link takes you to a service outside this site's control. Responsibility is disclaimed for that service's availability, content, privacy practices, charges, and data handling. Review the outside provider's own terms before proceeding.

8. Intellectual Property

Floyd County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, logos, graphics, and code. Without prior written permission, you may not reproduce, alter, distribute, or create derivative material from that content.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability is disclaimed for damages arising from use of this site, including a decision based on information obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, demands, or legal proceedings caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Iowa law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Iowa.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision takes effect when the updated language is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, restricted, or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, every other provision remains in effect. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent required for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
